A Week of Winners 8th Sept 2023 BLOG
After a busy summer of with lots of racing , things have started to quieten down, so this weeks Blog won’t be so long.
It will be mainly a list of winners.
On Saturday the 2nd of September, I made the short drive from Cornwall down Hwy 401 to the Brockville Ontario Speedway. It was their final points night.
On arrival I soon caught up with fellow togs Don Simpson and Tyler Lacalle
On my pits walk about , I spotted my buddy Luke Whitteker who was back behind the wheel of a Modified , driving the Jims Performance car.
As well as the regular divisions, the program consisted of a 50 lap Pro Stock race.
In my opinion 50 laps are too many for the Pro Stocks.
This division is in ‘come back’ mode right now, and getting good turn outs of cars. It would be a shame to spoil it and turn people off them, with long caution filled races. 35 laps would be quite enough for their big races.
The race was won by Tyler Bushey.
Now on to the Mods
The Modified feature gave Kyle Dingwall a well deserved win.
The Track Championship was won by Ryan Arbuthnot.
As for the Sportsman, it was once again Bobby Herrington in Victory Lane. I’ve lost count of how many times he’s been there this year.
As expected, he also clinched the track Championship .
The Novice Sportsman feature was won by Paul Donnelly in his tribute to the late Paul Pekkonen car.
Dylan Moore took the Novice Sportsman track championship.
I didn’t stay for the last feature which was for the Ministocks.
In my absence, Hayden Brown was the winner with # 23 Brandon McMillan taking the Championship.
Next day it was the turn of the Cornwall Motor Speedway to end their regular season and decide the various season championships.
Just like Brockville, there were so many winners to mention, I’ll just reel them all off.
Once again a 50 lap Pro Stock race was added to the program.
Because of poor track conditions, and the prep work that was needed, things got underway later than planned, and many of the races had to have their laps decreased.
The Modified Feature winner was Carey Terrance. Seen here with his biggest fan ‘Crew Chief’ Chris Hearne.
Corey Wheeler won the Modified track championship,
and Felix Roy took the Canadian Nationals Series win.
Sportsman Feature winner was Thomas Cook after a last lap pass on Shane Pecore
Gabriel Cyr took the Sportsman championship.
Shane Pecore was the ‘Race for a Cure Series winner
A shortened Pro Stock feature was won by Gabriel Caouette ,
and Marc Lalonde got the championship.
Other winners on the night were Skyler Ladouceur in the Rookie Sportsman Feature.
The Eastern Ontario Mini Stocks Series was won by Pierre Picard
James Clarke was the Mini Stocks track Champion.
The last race of the night was the Mini Stocks feature and it was great to see Marc Andre Voyer get the win.
During the celebrations he led his girl-friend over to the front stretch, and proposed.
and she said YES .
Wow, that’s quite a long list of winners in this report !
