A Win For Ryan Stabler (7th June 2026 BLOG)

The last report ended on Sunday 31st May when racing came to an abrupt halt at the Cornwall Motor Speedway, following a heavy downpour as the heat races were taking place.

Mother Nature obviously doesn’t like racing , because of course, once the weekend was over , we had beautiful sunny weather here in Cornwall for the first week of June . It was so nice I got a long overdue project ‘done and dusted’ My front deck has now been stained.

On Wednesday the 3rd , it was a lovely night to take the Thunderbird down to the Royal Canadian Air Force Association Club house beside the St Lawrence .

It was the weekly gathering of the Cornwwall Olde Car Club.

When Thursday the 4th came around, it was time for the usual trip to the Airborne Park Speedway in Plattsburgh with Don Simpson.

There was a nice turnout of 18 Modifieds, including , rare visitor Mario Clair.

That meant my long time friend Chantal Lesage was there too.

It was nice to catch up with her, it’s been a while.

As usual, the headlining Modifieds were joined on the program by the Sportsman, Limited Sportsman, Renegades and Mini Stocks.

As normal for Airborne , the show moved along quickly , with the minimum of delays , and the premier divisions up first for the feature races .

I’m sure this is one of the reasons , their Thursday night races attract a better car count than you’d expect for a midweek show . Lets face it , no one wants a late night, and the premier divisions are usually those that travel the furthest .

This week the Sportman feature was up before the Modifieds.

Vermont driver, Dylan Rabtoy was the winner of this one .

The Modifieds, then followed.

Early leader was Preston Forbes , but some late race cautions allowed his lead to diminish .

Fast moving Mike Mahaney who’d started near the back , worked his way up to the front , and it wasn’t long before he passed Forbes for the win. Tim Fuller wasn’t too far behind to take third.

That made it three consecutive wins at for Mike at Airborne, and he celebrated his Victory with his wife Mandee and son MJ .

The race was all over , and pictures taken by 9-15, and it was time for our exit .

I was back home in Cornwall , at 11-15 ,which is a nice sensible time for a midweek show.

The next day was Friday the 5th , and it was time for another trip over the International Bridge for a night at the Mohawk International Raceway.

There was another good turnout of Modifieds , who were joined by the Sportsman , Limited Sportsman, Pro Stocks and Mini Stocks.

The first of the features, for the Limited Sportsman , took place before the intermission .

This was won by Lyle Robinson.

The regular Sportsman feature followed the break .

It was no surprise to see Tristan Ladouceur get his second consecutive win.

Next up , was the 35 lap Pro Stock feature . It was for 35 laps and there was a full field of cars . In this division, I guessed it would be the perfect recipe for plenty of stoppages .

I wasn’t wrong and after a long delay due to a big wreck , the eventual winner was Tommy Lizotte who held off Dakota Sharp .

The Mini Stock main event then followed.

Felix Lacictoire took the checkers in this one.

This week we had to wait until the last race race of the night , for the headline Modified feature .

It looked all set for either Louie Jackson Jr, Carey Terrance or Cedric Gauvreau to get this one, until the final few laps when Ryan Stabler made his move to pass them all and grab the checkers .

The show was all done , well before 11-00 pm and I was back home by 11-15 , perfect !

The weather out-look for the rest of the weekend wasn’t looking good for most of the North East, and plenty of rain was in the forecast .

On Saturday the 6th , both the Brockville Ontario Speedway and Autodrome Drummond cancelled early. They were my two possibilities .

On Sunday the 7th , I woke up to pouring rain , and my local Cornwall Motor Speedway were early to cancel.

Lucky for me Saturday and Sunday had some great sport on TV

It was a fantastic hockey game to watch on Saturday night as the Carolina Hurricanes took on the Las Vegas Golden Knights in game three of their Stanley Cup Final .

Vegas beat the Canes 5-4 in the second overtime period. After this the Knights now lead the Canes 2-1 in final series of the Cup .

Then on Sunday morning it was the Monaco Grand Prix.

Even though this race is rarely an exciting one to watch, it is one of the most historic tracks in motor racing, and important fixture for the worlds premier formula.

Once again 19 year old Kimi Antonelli in a Mercedes , was in Victory Lane rewriting the record books with his fifth straight win of the year.

Sunday night rainout and a night to relax at home with some beer bought on my recent trip to Brugge

That’s it for this report , I have something a bit different planned for next week.
