LAND of LEGENDS win for Tim Fuller (7th of July 2026 BLOG)

Tim Fuller wins at the Land of Legends ( 7th July 2026 BLOG)

The last BLOG ended on Friday the 26th of June on a Friday night of no racing.

My Thursday night plans also got scrapped when the Airborne Park Speedway cancelled a night of Sportsman and the DirtCar Pro Stock Series.

Locally there there wasn’t anything going on for Friday , so decided to take my Thunderbird to the ‘Cornwall Cruisers’ night at Fat Les’s.

Fat Les food trucks are well known in my area and are also good sponsors in the world of Dirt Car Racing.

This particular truck is based on the 138 as you are going out of Cornwall, so it was close to home .

Since that night , things started getting real busy , so it’s been hard finding time to put words together for a BLOG .

I was getting a bit behind, for this one , so I’ll be skimming along quickly and concentrating on the main divisions without too many details.

On Saturday night (27th June) I was off to the Brockville Ontario Speedway, They were playing ‘catch up’ and we had two rain-delayed features to begin the night.

Start time was brought forward an hour , to get the show in.

The first of the rain delayed features was for the Sprint Cars , followed by the previous weeks Modified feature .

Bobby Herrington was the winner .

By the 7-00pm, the normal start time, a regular nights program began.

Kyle Dingwall was the Modified winner of the regular show.

Gavin Eisele was the Sportsman winner.

On Sunday the 28th of July , the Canadian Nationals for 358 Modifieds were being held at the Cornwall Motor Speedway as well as Sportsman, Limited Sportsman , Mini Stocks and Lightening Sprints.

Jackson Gill was there with a tribute wrap to the late Stephane Lafrance

The Modified feature winner was Felix Roy

Sportsman winner was Jacob Nadeau

Monday the 29th of June was another Cruise Night , with a drive down to Morrisburg.

The Dock Syde Cruise takes place each Monday throughout the summer beside the St Lawrence waterfront .

Tuesday was a lazy day getting prepared for a three day road trip on Wednesday .

The 1st of July was Canada Day, and after doing some last minute jobs around the house in the morning, I set off south of the border.

The Can Am Speedway at Lafargeville NY were holding their annual Pabst Shoot Out , featuring DirtCar series races for both the 358’s and Sportsman . The touring ESS Sprint Cars were also included on the program .

Before going to the track I checked in at the Royal Inn located in the village of Pamela about 15 minutes away and beside the Evans Mills exit of I81.

There was a good turnout of cars in every division and everything was going fine until about 8-45 pm when a huge rain storm hit us .

The majority of the heat races were in the books, apart from the last of the Sportsman.

I managed to get off the middle and shelter in the bar, until the inevitable cancellation call was made. Once the rain had stopped I returned for an early night at the motel .

Wednesday the 2nd of July I was on the road again and heading for the Land of Legends (or if you are like me , prefer to call it by its former name) The Canandaigua Speedway NY .

A round of the SUPER DIRTCAR SERIES was being held and it was another scorching hot day, just the same as it was last year when I attended this place .

In 2025 , I was there for a SUPER DIRTCAR event and it got rained out after hot laps. I was keeping my fingers crossed it didn’t do the same this time round.

Before going to the track, I booked into the Red Roof Inn at Weedsport.

I was at the Speedway at around 3-00pm so had plenty of time to chill out in the shade , before things got going.

The show was a bit late starting as track prep took longer than expected.

The 60 lap main event went Tim Fuller , after fending off the challenging Alex Payne.

Joining them on the podium was Matt Sheppard.

I made my exit before the final race of the night which was for the supporting Sprint Cars.

I was back in my Weedsport hotel before midnight.

There was no rush to leave in the morning as my evening destination was the Mohawk International Raceway , just 15 minutes from my home and on the USA side of the border. There was no point in crossing back into Canada before the races, so I planned a leisurely drive north .

First stop was one of old haunts, The Maple Restaurant and Truck stop for breakfast at the Mexico exit on the I81 .

I then continued up to Watertown where I stopped at the LOVES Truck Stop and found a quiet spot to do some lap top work.

By early afternoon I was passing Morristown on the route 37 and noticed some ‘open’ signs up for the St Lawrence Motor Sports Park.

I had time to kill so why not go and investigate.

It’s a narrow road course track where karting takes place.

I went there back in March 2012 , when the CNYIRA (Central New York Ice Racing Association) had organized some regular facing (dry land) .

FLASHBACK to 2012

So 14 years later I was taking another look.

On entry, I soon met up with track owner Marco Oldhafer.

He told me that he’d owned the track for eight years.

He showed me around and told me about his operation .

As mentioned it’s quite narrow, so he intends to keep it for karts. He’s, a former Karting Champion who has machines for rental, and also stages a NY Summer Series of races.

A lot of investment has been put into the facility since my first visit, which was evident by the new buildings in place.

I was very impressed and it looks like a great place for parents with ambitions of their kids to become the next Lewis Hamilton. Most of the Worlds top race drivers started on tracks such as this.

From Morritown I continued on my merry way to Ogdensburg .

I spotted two of my Pro Stock friends , Dakota Sharp and Tyler Bushey loading up ready for the MIR, so stopped in for a chat. As we stood there we noticed other race car haulers were passing , so I got back on the road for the last 45 minutes of the journey .

I made one more stop before the track to pick up my usual steak sub at JWRECK Subs in Akwesasne.

The Mohawk International Raceway had a regular program of events , with the headlining DIRTCAR divisions of Modifieds, Sportsman and Pro Stocks, plus the Mini Stocks and Rookie Sportsman

Brian McDonald was the Modified feature winner

Brian seen here with track owner Don Thompson.

Winner of the Sportsman feature was Tristan Ladouceur

The DirtCar Prostock winner was Sid Harmer JR

Racing was over by 11-15 , and I made my exit before the Big Firework Display prior the Independence Day celebrations less than an hour away.

Well it was about midnight by the time I returned home after my three day road trip. I opened my front door to find a ‘baking’ hot house.

It was obvious the forced air, A/C had quit.

At 8-30 Saturday morning I was on the phone to Walker Climate Control the contractors ,I’m with for my furnace and A/C .

After talking to one of those annoying robot machines , I secured an emergency service call for first thing Monday morning. This meant I wouldn’t need to cancel my evening plans for the Brockville Ontario Speedway.

Then a few hours later I had phone call from a ‘real’ person at the local Walker’s in Cornwall, saying they could come later that day if I was available.

Of course I said yes. The lady said my ‘window’ would be between 3-00pm and 6-00pm, but maybe earlier if I was going to be home, so my trip to the BOS was put on hold.

While I was watching the televised Canada Versus Morocco World Cup game at about 1-30 pm a text came saying the technician , was on his way .

To cut a long story short , he arrived , and replaced the broken capacitor in about 30 minutes . Great service by Walker Climate Care.

The house was now starting to cool down, so at 4-45 pm , I was heading to Brockville.

I arrived at 6-15 pm just as the two rained out features from previous weeks (Mini Stocks and Rookie Sportsman) were taking place.

I was able to check out the pits while these were taking place.

I’d had phone call earlier in the day , informing me that Quebec’s Mario Clair would be there , back driving the Pierre Dagenais owned car .

So this was where I headed, and chatted their until the opening ceremonies.

I was sitting on the middle in good time, with camera ready for the regular weekly show to begin.

It was nice to see Dave Watchorn in action again with his # 97 Mini Stock . That car has been around for about 20 years or more.

The Modified Feature was won by Tristan Draper after a strong challenge by Chris Raabe came to an end, after he suffered mechanical issues.

Draper went on to win with Lucas Fuller second and Lance Willix third.

The Sportsman race saw Dominic Merkley take the checkers but he was later DQ’d in post race tech .

This gave, Jessica Power a belated win.

I then made a hasty exit and was home by 11-00pm . I didn’t want a late night as there was a Sunday morning car show I wanted to attend.

So at 9-45 am , the Thunderbird was heading across the border to the annual show at Louisville , just outside Massena NY.

It’s run by the Voluntry Fire Service and its always a good one .

I stayed for a couple of hours before returning home to Cornwall to get my Chev Impala loaded for a night at the Cornwall Motor Speedway .

I was there early and parked in my usual spot behind Victory Lane .

A big crowd was expected as General Admission was free that night .

Sure enough the Grandstands were packed. Many of the newcomers to racing were provided with some great entertainment .

Some of it was planned , but the spectacular wrecks were not.

The downside to the crashes were ‘clean up’ delays , which meant most of the Victory Lane celebrations had to be done at the end of the night to beat the curfew.

It’s an unavoidable , downer, as ‘the excitement of the win’ is lost in the pictures.

Feature wins in the headline divisions went to Corey Wheeler in the Modifieds.

Jacob Nadeau in the Sportsman (He was a non arrival for the Victory Lane Ceremonies)

Once again Tommy Lizotte was the Pro Stock winner.

At the end of the night , just as Victory Lane pictures were being completed , I learned the great news that England had beat Mexico in the World Cup. The game had been taking place while I was at the Speedway

On Monday I had a much needed day of rest and relaxation before another big week ahead.
