RICK @ the RACES ( 29/30 Oct)
With the racing season rapidly coming to an end, I had no events to attend this week, so my report will be a short one.
The weekend was spent relaxing, behind the TV and getting ready for a forthcoming trip to Charlotte , North Carolina for the DIRT TRACK WORLD FINALS.
Saturdays viewing included the SPEED coverage of SUPER DIRT WEEK at Syracuse. It mainly concentrated on the big race of the week, the SEF 200 where Stewart Friesen took the checkers, but for some reason, they failed to show the best race of the week. The 30 lap Pro Stock race that preceded the main event and provided a three way chase between Rocky Warner, Rob Yetman and Pete Stefanski was missing . They did however, show parts of the 358 Modified race won by Billy Decker and some interviews . The best interview was with an irate Rick Laubach crew chief, who wasn’t afraid to tell the world ‘what he thought’ !
On Sunday, my armchair racing consisted of watching the inaugural Indian F1 Grand Prix from New Delhi, again on SPEED TV. This gave Sebastian Vettel and the Red Bull Team yet another win, with Jensen Button and Fernando Alonso coming home second and third.
After this I watched the highlights of the NASCAR Sprint Cup race from Martinsville, where Tony Stewart grabbed the lead from Jimmy Johnson after a late caution.
That was it, as far as my racing was concerned, so my attentions turned to the NHL. It was the ‘Battle of Ontario’ with my Ottawa Senators taking on the Toronto Maple Leafs. Once again it was a joy to watch the ‘Sens’ walk all over the ‘Leafs’
Webmaster Note: Sens got Lucky…Leafs will get em next time.
