My last Blog ended in mid-November after a few busy weeks that involved a trip to North Carolina. My race season was coming to an end and I had just two more events in my diary.
On Saturday the 23rd of the month, I’d be heading to Syracuse, New York for two annual events I don’t like missing.
I’d been invited by DirtCar to attend the Night of Champions banquet in the evening.
This event usually coincides with the North East Race Parts show that’s held at the Expo Center at the NYS Fairgrounds during the day.
As usual , my plans were to attend both.
In retrospect, I should of stayed at home.
Since returning from the North Carolina trip, I’ve been tired, no energy and been feeling under par. On the Friday night before, I felt like ‘crap’ and went to bed really early. I awoke at 4-00 am, then couldn’t get back to sleep. Instead of ‘fighting it’ , I got up , and decided to make an early start for Syracuse.
When I left home at 6-00 am , I still wasn’t feeling good , but hoped things would improve as the day went on.
I took a slow relaxing drive down the I81 and stopped for breakfast in Watertown.
I arrived at the Expo Center in Syracuse at 10-30 and must admit , the chatting with friends, cheered me up, and I felt a bit better .
I spent a couple of hours at the show, before making an exit .
There was a lot of time to kill before 5-00pm when I would need to be at the banquet .
I hadn’t intended staying overnight, this year , so hadn’t booked myself a room at the Marriott Downtown where it was being held.
So I headed for the huge Destiny USA shopping mall to chill out and eat.
After having some lunch , I had no energy and was feeling giddy , as I walked.
So, I sat in the parking lot for about 30 minutes contemplating what to do. I didn’t feel good at all.
I concluded, that the banquet, followed by a late night driving home was not in my best interest. Sadly , I decided to cancel , I texted the DirtCar organisers informing them of my situation and headed for home . I was back at my house in Cornwall around 7-00 pm.
Well , November is now over and it’s the 2nd of December.
I’m still not feeling my normal self , it was a crazy year, maybe I over did things for an old guy and burned my self out 🙂
Possibly , I should slow up a bit next year LOL, I always say that when the racing season is over, but don’t see that happening . I’ve already started planning my Florida trip for February.
