Back to the Usual Routine. (23 May 2026)

SATURDAY 16th May

After landing at the Montreal Airport at 2-00 pm on a flight from London Gatwick , I was back home in Cornwall , Ontario by 4-00 pm. That was enough time to unload my suitcases, and refresh for a while.

By 5-30 pm I was back in my car and heading for the Brockville Ontario Speedway.

This report will be a breif one as I’ve got a back log of catching up to do.

I was at the B.O.S in time to catch the last few sessions of hot laps.

It had been a long day so , I’d already decided in advance, I’d be making an early exit .

During the intermission I had time to visit the pits, and it was nice to meet up with my long time friend Tabatha Murphy , who was back at the track with her dad, Ralph after a few years absence.

Once I was back on the middle , the features began

Luckily for me, the main event, the Modified feature, was the second one. It followed the ministocks that was won by Mike Saunders

So the race I’d been waiting for was next and was won by Chris Raabe after keeping Steve Bernier at bay.

Like planned , I was on my way home after this one, choosing to miss the remaining division features. I was home by around 11-30 pm, and was finally time to get some rest.

Sunday was a big day, with the season opener at my local Cornwall Motor Speedway.

They were starting the 2026 season with the ultimate headliner, a round of the SUPER DIRTCAR SERIES.

As usual , I was there early to get my car on the center .

Once parked up , I was able to chill out and relax before things got under way.

There were only two other divisions joining the Big Block Modifieds, these being , the domestic Sportsman and MiniStocks.

The 100 lap big race was up first, and straight after the intermission.

My buddy , former promoter Ron Morin, was given the honor of Grand Starter, delivering those famous words, Drivers Start Your Engines.

At the conclusion of the 100 laps , Alex Yankowski was the winner with Mat Williamson second and Felix Roy third.

The Sportsman Feature then followed with Jacob Nadeau taking the checkers .

Last race of the night was for the Mini Stocks where Sebastien Raymond Beauregard added another victory to his repertoire.

It was a good night and I was back home by 11-15 pm, just what I needed.

It was the Victoria Day Weekend so this meant Monday was a ‘Holiday Monday’.

This was opening night for the Dock Syde Cruise in Morrisburg . I took my Thunderbird out for this one.

Two days later on the Wednesday I had an appointment for my Impala with SEAWAY GM for my winter tire changeover. I must of been tired , I was caught napping again.

Wednesday was also the the first meeting of the year for the Cornwall Olde Car Club at the RCAFA Club by the river. So once again the Thunderbird was out of the garage

On Thursday the 21st , it was time to go racing again.

This time I was heading to the Airborne Park Speedway in Plattsburgh NY .

Normaly I travel to this one with my buddy , Don Simpson, but he was giving it a miss this week , so I went solo.

I left home earlier than usual and spent some time shopping in Plattsburgh.

It was a nice dry, sunny night, but turned out bitterly cold as the night moved on.

Once again I chose to leave once the Modifieds were done , as the warmth of my car was just too tempting.

The first feature, and prior to the Modifieds was for the Limited Sportsman, and the winner was Sarahann Lauziere .

The Modified feature that followed, and Mike Mahaney took the big win .

In my absence Nick Heyward took the Sportsman win.

Once, on the road, a hot coffee was needed along the way before arriving home in Cornwall at 11-00 pm.

With another weekend of racing approaching, that’s it for this weeks BLOG
