A Modified Career First Win for William Racine END OF MAY 2026 BLOG.
My Last BLOG ended on Thursday the 21st of May , following a night at the Airborne Park Speedway , in Plattsburgh, New York.
This report will be a brief one, as I’m having problems using my lap top key board. ( I have a swollen finger from what I believe to be an insect bite)
Friday 22nd May.
It was the opening night of my local Mohawk International Raceway, after rain resulted in a postponement from the previous week.
I was there early to find a pits full of cars.

It was great to be back, and hard to believe , this is my 30th year of attending this speedway.
It was good to meet up and chat with Hilary Jacobs, a familiar face for many years at this track, who’d sadly been missing , for the past year due to some health problems.

Billy Cook , Hilary and me.

Modified Action
Winners of the premier divisions , were Billy Dunn Modifieds

Tristan Ladouceur was the Sportsman winner .

and Sid Harmer Jnr won in the Pro Stocks

Saturday 23rd of May .
Much of the north east suffered from wet weather , resulting in many cancelations, including my intended destination, the Brockville Ontario Speedway.
Sunday 24th of May .
Rain was still the big factor in the area and my local Cornwall Motor Speedway also got canceled.
I salvaged my day by watching the Canadian Grand Prix on the TV.
Kimi Antonelli in the Mercedes was the winner at the Gilles Villeneuve Circuit in Montreal.
I had a quiet week up until , up until Thursday 28th May.
It was then time for a trip to Plattsburgh once again , to the Airborne Park Speedway. I rode over as usual with my buddy , Don Simpson.
There was still a bit of moisture in the air, and we had a few spots of rain, but nothing serious. The show was quickly staged , with the minimal of delays.

Winners of the premier divisions were , Mike Mahaney making it two consecutive wins in the Modifieds.

Sportsman winner was Michael Wright .

Friday 29th of May
Wet weather was still with us and around lunchtime, the Mohawk International Raceway had canceled . Autodrome Granby in Quebec had also done likewise.
The Can Am Speedway at Lafargeville NY were still running and by mid afternoon the sun was shining, so I decided to take a gamble , and go for it.
It was a lovely drive down to Alexandria Bay , along the banks of the St Lawrence , and I even had the sun roof open.
I got to the track just before 5-00pm and the weather was still nice, although there were some nasty looking clouds on the horizon.
At 6-15 pm I took my usual spot by pit lane to take some hot lap pics .

Half way through hot laps , the heavens opened so I took refuge in the pit shack with Tom, the line up official, and fellow tog buddy, Rebecca Eisele.
It rained heavily for a while then eased off, but it was obvious to me it would be a long night and quite a while before the track could be repacked.
I wasn’t prepared to have a late one, so at 7-15pm, I made the decision to head for home.
I was back in my house in good time to watch , the second and third periods on TV of the Montreal Canadians final game of this years Stanley Cup Play offs .
As expected , they got thrashed by the Carolina Hurricanes , who , in my opinion are the best team in the NHL right now. They swept ‘my’ Sens in the first round , then did the same to the Flyers in the second round. In this the third round , they would of probably of done the same to the Habs , if they hadn’t lost game one (probably due to the long rest they had, following the sweeps)
I later found out that racing did finaly get underway at Can Am , with Matt Caprara getting the big win.
Saturday 30th May .
On Saturday I was looking forward to my road trip , heading up to Autodrome Drummond in Quebec. It’s a track I always enjoy attending .
The weather was perfect with no issues and when I arrived at 3-00 pm there was a long line of race car haulers waiting to get in.
The headline events were a 50 lap Sail Panel night for Modifieds and a DIRTCAR SERIES race for Pro Stocks .
Add to this Sportsman , STR’s , Lightening Sprints , plus Slingshots on the inner oval.
As you can imagine the pits were quite full.
Hot laps began earlier , at 4-00 pm to help move things along quicker, so I was out on track in my usual turn 3 & 4 position.

The Modified feature was a good one with many changes of the lead, with a deserving victory for young William Racine , who claimed his first career win in this division.

The DIRTCAR Pro Stock Series was won by Sid Harmer Jr .

I left before the end of the race and missed the checkers, so my tog buddy Daniel Mailhot got the Victory Lane shot for me.

In my absence , Jacob Nadeau took the Sportsman feature.
I was home before mid night , just as I’d hoped.
Sunday 31st May.
The final day of the month had arrived and it was time once again for my local Cornwall Motor Speedway.
The previous week had been canceled so we were all looking forward to getting back on schedule. The weather wasn’t looking good, but it wasn’t raining , so things got going as planned .
The show consisted of Modifieds, Sportsman , Rookie Sportsman , DirtCar Prostocks for a series race, and the visiting Quebec Mod Lites .

The night began well , and all the hot laps were in the books .
The Mod Lites completed their heats, as did the Pro Stocks , Rookie Sportsman and Modifieds.

The final round of heats for the Sportsman were all lined up to come out, when the rain began.
It came down quite heavy for a bit as I sheltered in my Impala.

After about 30 minutes the decision was made to cancel.
So, that was it, another early finish to my races . Hopefully June will bring better weather.
