RICK @ the RACES (Christmas 2012)

Christmas is now over and this year turned out to be one of the best I can remember.

Instead of spending the holiday at home I flew down to Florida to be with my daughter Carla, Alex and my newborn Grandson Benjamin.

After parking my car at the Montreal Airport on Sunday 23 Dec, I got an American Airlines flight to Miami.

I was met at the airport by the three of them and we were soon heading up I95 to their place in Boca Raton. We had some great ‘quality time’ together over the next few days, ( with not a race car in site !)

We had a tasty traditional Christmas dinner, as well as accomplishing something I’ve always wanted to do. One of the things on my ‘bucket list’ for many years, was to walk on a sunny beach at Christmas. Carla and I took a ‘one hour time out’ on Christmas Day to visit the nearby Delray Beach.

The water was warm and there were many people bathing ! I just wish I’d packed my trunks !

On Friday I had to return to Canada, and the out look wasn’t good. A major snow storm was effecting the North East so I wasn’t looking forward to what was in store.

Sure enough, on my arrival back in Montreal, I had to dig my car out of the snow, but luckily the roads back home to Cornwall (Ont) were clear.

Unfortunately, the roads in the city were still packed with snow, and my drive way had over 18 inches of it, along the full length.

It was now about 8-00pm at night and I was wondering what to do, when salvation came my way. Lucky for me, a guy came trundling down the road with a tractor and snow blower, so after flagging him down and a quick exchange of cash, my driveway was cleared.

It’s now back to the reality of a cold Canadian Winter for me, as I look forward to 2013.

HAPPY NEW YEAR to all.
