RICK @ the RACES ( 3 Feb 2013)
3 Feb Autodrome, St Eustache. QUE
This past weekend I was back at the Autodrome St Eustache, in Quebec for their annual snow races, or as they say in French ‘Challenge Sur Neige’.
I arrived at about 11-30 am in good time for the scheduled 1-30 start, and made straight for the pits. It didn’t take long before I spotted some familiar faces.
My good friend Lee Ladouceur was there, returning the favor to Sebastian Chabot, by acting as a crew member. During the regular racing season Sebastien and his wife Jacinthe are to be seen helping Lee out with his Sprint Car Team.
Sebastien # 51 from Van Kleek Hill, and his friend Guy Lalonde # 50 from Alfred were the lone Ontario drivers in a field of about fifty cars from Quebec.
Thanks go out to both of them for sporting the www.rickattheraces.com decals.
While in the pits I also had the pleasure of meeting another good friend, from the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series. Crowd favorite Isabelle Tremblay from nearby St Hippolithe (Que) started her racing career at St Eustache, and was taking part in the snow races for a bit of fun, and as a treat to her local fans. Instead of her NASCAR stock car she was at the wheel of a humble Hyundai.
The racing took place on a road course that included parts of the oval and parts of the infield. I took up a position in the middle to get my pictures, before heading for home after the qualifiers.
It was too cold for me to last out for the full program !
