RICK @ the RACES ( 22 June to 1 July 2015)
If things had worked out to my original plans, this weeks report would of been packed with stuff , on events I’d attended. I had a lot of racing scheduled, but for various reasons over the last few days, my tally is zero. Mother Nature had something to do with it, but the main reason has been some health issues I’m having to deal with.
After I had paid another visit to the Cornwall hospital on Monday night (22 June), my daughter , Carla decided to fly in from Austin, Texas on Tuesday ( 23 June) to see me. It was great to see her, and I was pleased for her help and concern. I’m currently off work at my full time job as a truck driver, and the part time job that I do at the Cornwall Motor Speedway.
My plan is to attend my local races, only when, and if I feel well enough, so I can catch up with friends and take a few pics for my web site.
I missed out on Friday nights races at the Mohawk International Raceway NY and Saturday night at the Brockville Ontario Speedway.
Carey Terrance was the winner at the M.I.R
Gage Morin won at the B.O.S.
A big thanks to my fellow photographers, Andy Watts (M.I.R) and Jim Clarke (B.O.S) for their pics.
On Sunday the Big Block Modified SUPER DIRT SERIES was due to visit the Cornwall Motor Speedway, and unless, I was really feeling bad, I had every intention of going along, albeit, in a ‘race fan’ role and not working.
Well, Mother Nature ended any plans I had, when torrential rain caused an early cancellation.
On Tuesday (30 June) , Carla left my place early in the morning for the airport, and to attend a pre-scheduled function in Kentucky. My original plans for this day, prior to becoming unwell were to drive down to the Oshweken Speedway near Brantford , Ontario, for their first ever staging of the SUPER DIRT SERIES. I’d booked a few days off from work, and was looking forward to a little vacation. It wasn’t to be, and instead of heading down there, I was ‘confined to quarters’ back home in Cornwall, while all the fun took place.
Congrats to Chad Brachmann on his win ( his first ever) in this historic race, and a big thanks to my photographer friend Alex Bruce for the pics.
While I’m ‘out of action’ I hope to keep the web site reports up to date with the grateful help from my many fellow photographer friends.
Wednesday, the 1st of July was Canada Day and my local Cornwall Motor Speedway had a special day of racing planned. Again, with it being local, I was hoping to go along, but once more, Mother Nature had other ideas. It’s now three rain-outs in a row for the speedway.
I stayed at home snoozing while the rain came down , until the roar in the sky woke me up. I grabbed my camera and managed to catch the big Hercules aircraft doing the fly-past for the cities celebrations from the shelter of my front porch. Apologies for the picture quality, but never had time to set the camera up for the poor lighting and rain filled skies.
