It’s now been five weeks since I came out of the Ottawa Civic Hospital following a six day visit and a long course of transfusions. I still have no big improvements to report, and I’m getting good days and bad days, with very little energy to do much.

I was planning to stay at home all weekend resting and relaxing, but things changed .

There was no Friday night racing at the Mohawk International Raceway this week, as they took their usual break, while the county fair took place.

On Saturday,  I had no plans to do anything , until about 5-30 pm when I had a phone call from my buddy, Ron Morin.  Do you want a ride to the races at Brockville tonight ? , he said,  and within a minute, I’d instantly changed my evening plans.

As a good friend of B.O.S promoter, Paul Kirkland, Ron always parks his truck in the center of the track, which is ideal for a ‘wounded soldier’ like myself. DSC_0299 (Medium)

Ron and I were joined for the trip, by his son in law, Mark Radbourne, a former mini-stocks driver, and after we’d stopped for supper at the Brockville Harveys, we were at the track ten minutes before start time.11857552_1615543618713545_1189416500_n

I got my camera bag and lawn chair out of the truck, and began snapping some pictures.DSC_0395 (Medium) DSC_0396 (Medium) DSC_0282 (Medium) DSC_0270 (Medium) DSC_0295 (Medium) DSC_0313 (Medium) DSC_0349 (Medium) DSC_0322 (Medium) DSC_0328 (Medium)

After the heats, Ron’s grandson # 16 Gage Morin parked up on the middle to chat with us, before heading back to the pits for intermission.11880085_1615543648713542_1442434806_n

After the Modified feature, which was won by Stephane Lafrance, we made our exit.

With the quick getaway , and the luxury of a nice early finish , we were back home in Cornwall before 11-00pm “just what the doctor ordered”

My plans to stay at home on Sunday night were changed too, when I had a visit from my good friend Chanty Lesage and her son Tyrek, who were en-route home to Gatineau from her boyfriend, Rob Yetman’s place  (my Pro Stock driver buddy from Albany , NY.)   Her dad, Ted Lesage is the Tech Man at the Cornwall Motor Speedway, and she was dropping in at the track to see him. So I decided to go along for a couple of hours too.DSC_0111 (Large)

Thanks once again to Sylvain Lauwers for sending me the Victory Lane picture.11896903_10203886596599955_102292167_n (Large)

Finally,  before signing off for this week, I want to plug a new recording by Abby Stewart, the oldest daughter of my good friend Todd Stewart, a former DIRT modified driver from Kingston, Ontario.

I’ve known the Stewart’s for quite a few years, and it’s good to see that Abby’s singing talents are getting noticed.  The Video for Her latest recording, “I’m Still Faster” was shot at the Brockville Ontario Speedway.
